Many owners of gun dog breeds don’t intend to work their dogs but find both they and their dogs draw great satisfaction and reward in following the training disciplines of controlled hunting and retrieving from which many many generations were bred.

We hold regular gundog classes from first timers to clients who wish to ‘MOT’ their working dogs a few times a year. We will go through the whole process of gundog training, from whistle work, steadiness, quartering, hunting, retrieving, directional work, developing memory, working under gunfire, working with cold game and steadiness to live game. Our emphasis is on progress and continuous development of good working dogs.

Louie and Jules have many years experience working on a variety of shoots, both in the beating line and picking up. We train on shooting estates, giving clients a unique opportunity to learn in a realistic environment.

Working Gundog Tests are an excellent measure of a gundog's potential in a practical shooting environment. We train our own dogs, we compete in tests and we even run our own working test days - these are great fun (often ending in the pub!)and introduce an element of competition in a sociable environment. The disciplines required to succeed in these tests enhance the working relationship between dog and handler and equip both with the necessary skills to perform confidently in the field.
